Last weekend I finally made my way over to Gates to check out The Coterie Restaurant, located at 777 Spencerport Rd, Rochester, NY 14606. I’ve been hearing a lot about this spot lately, especially since it rebranded from the old Agatina’s space. I was pleasantly surprised to find that while the interior has been beautifully modernized with a sleek, upscale lounge feel, it still retains that warm, neighborhood hospitality that Rochester is known for.

I took some time to look through the menu and prices, which offer a nice range for different budgets. You can find hearty burgers and handhelds around the $16–$18 mark, while more formal dinner entrees like their steak or pasta dishes go up to about $38. I decided to try the Short Rib Gnocchi, and it was easily the best dish I’ve had in a while; the meat was incredibly tender, and the house-made pasta had the perfect pillowy texture.

A few 2025 reviews I read mentioned that the bar program has really stepped up, and I have to agree—the craft cocktails are top-tier. The ambiance is vibrant but sophisticated, making it great for a "fancy" night out that doesn't feel stuffy. If you’re wondering is it worth a visit, I’d say absolutely, especially if you want high-end flavor without having to drive all the way into the city center.

Local Secrets:

The Parking Pro-Tip: The front lot can look deceptively full, but there is actually a massive overflow parking area behind the building that many first-timers miss. It’s much easier to pull in and out from the rear entrance.
The "Secret" Happy Hour: They have a fantastic happy hour at the bar from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, featuring discounted appetizers and house wine—it's the perfect way to sample the menu before committing to a full dinner.
